10 March Europe getting new Mitsubishi PHEV in 2024

Mitsubishi Motors Europe said it would follow up the new generation ASX and the redesigned Colt due in autumn 2023 with the flagship Outlander in 2024. The Outlander PHEV is already on sale in North America as a 2023 model and the EU version “reconfirms the brand’s commitment to the reference European region, and will further expand its offering in core segments with electrified models”, MME said in a statement.

19 May Toyota opens flex engine line in Kentucky

Toyota in the US opened a new flexible engine line at its Kentucky plant. The flex line, a US$145m previously announced investment, can now produce three different engine types simultaneously on one line, making Kentucky the only Toyota plant in North America with this capability.

2 May MG unveils revamped 2023 HS SUV

SAIC’s MG brand introduces an updated model of its flagship and best-selling SUV, MG HS, with upgrades enhancing driver experience and safety. 2023 is a good year for the brand in Europe. Top national market for MG in the region? The UK, by a country mile, of course. A tad ironic, perhaps, given the long heritage of the MG brand and the controversial ‘lift and shift’ of Longbridge tooling to China – along with rights to the brand – in the 2000s .

China’s leading new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD Auto began construction of a new right hand drive vehicle plant in Thailand, as its expands manufacturing in southeast Asia into a key vehicle producing and exporting country.
