Completing the new redesign, at the rear, the HS comes with a redesigned bumper, dual exhaust outlets and LED taillights.

The new design builds on the success of the previous models at no greater price, with the SUV coming in two specifications; SE, priced from £23,495, and Trophy, priced from £25,995. Each specification offers a comprehensive range of equipment options with a manual gearbox available as standard and an optional dual clutch DCT gearbox.

Upon release, all versions will be fuelled by a 1.5 litre, turbocharged petrol engine that can generate up to 162PS.

Both specifications include bi-function LED headlights with front and rear sequential indicators for the first time, air conditioning, satellite navigation, rear parking camera with sensors, rain sensing wipers, keyless entry and a leather steering wheel.

In addition to these, the Trophy specification includes leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual zone climate control, interior lighting, rear privacy glass and a six-speaker audio system.

MG says its latest upgrades prioritize driver and road safety. The brand’s safety equipment package, MG Pilot, comes standard across all specifications. This safety package outfits the HS with: Active Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Bicycle Detection, Lane Keep Assist with Kane Departure Warning System, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Intelligent High Beam Assist.

The firm will maintain its current plug-in hybrid MG HS PHEV model in addition to the 2023 HS Petrol variant.
