Software and systems provider Wind River has agreed a deal with Horizon Robotics to develop smart driving technology.

Horizon provides energy efficient computing software for advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) in China.

The companies said the technology was suited for new applications, including automated driving and software defined vehicles.

Through this agreement, OEMs will have access to a fully integrated ADAS hardware/software system, using Horizon’s Journey series computing and Wind River’s cloud to edge products.

This is set to simplify development and reduce time to market and costs.

Wind River’s software will be available on Horizon’s Journey series product.

“The combination of [our] software and Horizon hardware will allow OEMs to better leverage the advantages of localised development and delivery for next generation automotive solutions,” said Avijit Sinha, chief product officer at Wind River.
