Auto China 2024: Bosch to launch urban autopilot functions in China

Due in May this year

Dani Cole April 26 2024

The chairman of auto supplier Bosch’s mobility division said it will launch urban navigate-on-autopilot (NOA) functions with its advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) in May, Reuters reports.

The announcement was made at Auto China 2024. The firm wants to cover more than 20 cities in China this year, Mr Heyn also disclosed.

Can China’s tech giants succeed where Apple failed?

NOA has similar functions to Tesla’s Full-Self Driving (FSD) driver assistance software, which enables it to drive in urban traffic without human intervention.

Tesla’s plans to roll out FSD were announced in 2020, which were more of an extensive upgrade of its existing SAE level 2 Autopilot autonomous features.

Tier 1 supplier Bosch is said to be working hard to secure OEM contracts for its ADAS products in China. It signed a strategic agreement on ADAS and other smart tech with BAIC in 2023.
