The four millionth commercial vehicle made by General Motors in Bedfordshire, a Vauxhall Vivaro van, has been delivered to the Automobile Association.


General Motors has manufactured commercial vehicles at plants in Luton and Dunstable since 1930, for sale under the Vauxhall, Isuzu, Bedford, Opel Renault, Nissan and Chevrolet brands. The Vivaro is the latest of the line and is a joint venture between General Motors and Renault.


In a joint venture between Vauxhall/General Motors and Renault, the new generation of vans has been built at IBC Vehicles in Luton for sale in the United Kingdom and abroad since the spring of 2001. Luton produced around 80,000 Vivaros last year and exported approximately 87%.
