Turkish passenger car output fell 15.1% year-on-year in June and total automotive production dropped 24.6% according to the OSD.

Although the domestic market has picked up in recent months on the back of tax cuts, Turkey’s automotive industry continues to be hit hard by lower exports – especially to the EU.

Car output in the first half was down 35.3% to 245,929 units.

Analysts say all vehicle producers in Turkey are being impacted by the drop in export shipments to the EU, although the situation is expected to should stabilise later this year.
