
Audi
has built its two millionth diesel car, a 1.2-litre TDI A2, at its Neckarsulm
plant in Germany.
The company, which first offered a diesel engine option in 1978 says that 40
percent of the cars it produced last year – 260,000 – were so equipped.

This increased to 44 percent in the first quarter of 2001.
One out of two Audis registered in both the German and entire western Europe
