The German car industry, biggest employer in the country, could cut 20% of current jobs by 2014, according to a survey by economic research institute Feri.

Every sixth German employed in the metalworking industry will lose their job by 2014, while the engineering sector will dispose of every seventh worker, Feri said.

But some 400,000 jobs are expected to be created in the social and health-care field, a Financial Times Deutschland report added.
