Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 20%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the auto industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 12% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 17% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 17% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent future of work roles include Management Occupations with an 8% share in Q4 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in auto industry accounted for 37% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Tesla, Continental, AB Volvo, Ford Motor, and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Together they accounted for a combined share of 37% of all future of work-related new jobs in the auto industry.

Tesla posted 1,018 future of work-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Continental 933 jobs, AB Volvo 528 jobs, Ford Motor 352 jobs, and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group 324 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 53.18% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the auto industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 53.18% followed by India (9.05%) and Germany (5.95%). The share represented by the US was 0 percentage points higher than the 52.86% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
