Automotive supplier Forvia Hella has secured two series orders for EnergyCore solutions, covering its first 3-in-1 high-voltage battery management system and a 48V PowerPack.
The products will be delivered to two unnamed international automotive manufacturers in the Americas and Europe.
The orders have a combined value in the mid-three-digit million-euro range.
Production is scheduled to start in December 2027 for one order and in spring 2028 for the other.
Forvia Hella said the orders support the Forvia Group's IGNITE strategy, which focuses on expanding from a battery and power electronics supplier into a provider of integrated system solutions.
The company said this approach is intended to reduce “vehicle cost”, “complexity”, “weight” and “space requirements”.
The 3-in-1 system incorporates a battery management unit, cell measurement units and a battery junction box in a single unit.
It is designed to directly control high-voltage current flow between the battery and the vehicle.
According to the company, the system enables faster responses and improved functional safety.
Forvia Hella added that optimised cell monitoring cuts the number of cell measurement units required, reducing component numbers, wiring effort, space, weight and system costs.
The system was originally developed for larger full-hybrid vehicles.
Its scalable architecture can be adapted to varying OEM requirements and battery pack designs, while the basic concept can also be applied in fully electric vehicles.
Forvia Hella’s 48-volt PowerPack combines a low-voltage DC/DC converter with a low-voltage battery management system.
It is used in hybrid vehicles alongside the 12V battery and manages energy recuperation and coasting when the combustion engine is switched off.
The company was previously nominated to develop and manufacture a 12V lithium-ion battery pack in China.
Forvia Hella CEO Peter Laier said: “With our EnergyCore portfolio, we are combining our strong expertise in battery and power electronics into scalable system solutions that create clear value for automotive manufacturers.”
Earlier this week, Forvia agreed to create an automotive seating JV in India with Anand Group, targeting roughly 10% market share in five years.
