CATL, Seres strengthen their long-term battery partnership

The plan is to accelerate battery production expansion, increase focus on services and overseas markets.

Chinese battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Company Limited (CATL) announced that it has signed a new long-term strategic cooperation agreement with local automaker Seres Group, strengthening their existing long-term partnership.

CATL confirmed that since Seres launched the Aito brand, all Aito models have been equipped with CATL batteries, with cumulative deliveries exceeding 1.2 million units to date.  The two companies have now agreed to deepen strategic collaboration across three key areas:

Production Capacity Expansion: the two companies plan to accelerate the implementation of Phase 2 of the ‘Plant in Plant’ project at Seres’ manufacturing hub in Chongqing, which involves adding 10–12 GWh of annual battery production capacity, bringing total battery production capacity to over 20 GWh.

Supercharging and Energy Replenishment Ecosystem: CATL and Seres will focus on expanding supercharging networks and battery services, creating a full-lifecycle service system to further enhance the user experience.

Global Market Development: the two companies also plan to work together to explore overseas markets, including in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia, bringing “high-quality products and services” to more global customers and supporting the transition to intelligent electric mobility in key markets.
