This week’s internet address change from teslamotors.com to tesla.com is leading to speculation about what the EV specialist might be planning for its future direction.

According to ICANN, the internet accreditation company, the domain name shift took place on 18 July, Reuters has reported. Tesla CEO Elon Musk then tweeted, “Will be working at Tesla on Autopilot & Model 3 today, then aiming to pull an all-nighter and complete the master product plan.”

Reuters further notes that Apple Inc changed its name from Apple Computer just before it revealed the first iPhone. If Tesla is to shift into yet more new business avenues, Elon Musk is not saying. At least not yet.

Aside from electric cars and rockets, Tesla also has a storage battery division and the company recently proposed what has since become a controversial merger with SolarCity Corporation, a maker of solar panels which is controlled by Musk.
