Vehicle sales in Vietnam in July jumped 26% from a year ago to 10,839 units as demand strengthened on the back of a stronger economy.

Sales of passenger cars jumped 45%, the strongest growth among the different segments, the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) said in its monthly report.

Vietnam’s economic prospects have picked up lately due to government economic stimulus measures and economic growth in 2010 could be as high as 8% compared with 5% this year.

Toyota was the top selling brand with its July sales up 28.4% to 2,786 vehicles.
