ArvinMeritor has formed a joint venture with First Auto Works Sihuan Axle Brake Group of Changchun, China, in a move to expand the company’s capacity to produce air disc brakes and automatic slack adjusters for commercial vehicles, the Associated Press (AP) reported.

ArvinMeritor reportedly said the venture has been approved by both companies’ boards and is pending standard governmental approvals – financial terms weren’t disclosed.
AP said the companies plan to establish a new manufacturing facility in the Changchun area later this year – at the new plant, 90,000 brakes will be made annually when it reaches nominal production levels for domestic markets and exports.
