Metaldyne is expanding its Bluffton, Indiana, US, plant by 37,000 square feet. The building addition will support several future transmission-related programmes through the supply of ready-to-assemble differential assemblies and aluminium valve bodies.

Metaldyne settled on the site expansion at its existing facility in part due to incentives provided by local and state governments. Construction is starting this month for completion by March 2016.

The building addition is the first step in a five-year multi million dollar capital investment plan to support the launch and production of new programmes. The business will facilitate additional training and skill development opportunities for employees.

Each of the future programmes planned for the Bluffton operation involve internal components which will be supplied from other manufacturing locations and also by MPG companies further expanding the supplier’s vertical integration.
