A study by GfK Automotive revealed that most Americans are not keen on buying Indian or Chinese cars.

According to the study, just 38% of the respondents would be open to consider buying a Chinese car while 30% will consider buying an Indian car. Alternatively, 95% respondents would consider opting for US manufacturers, 76% from German companies, 75% for Japanese models and 49% for Korean models.

GfK also mentioned about the resistance experienced by Hyundai during the initial phase of its entry in America.

GfK added, “However, we would add that the quality, performance, safety and reliability of the models make all the difference. And Hyundai initially trailed in all those regards. Perception took years to change, because the company itself took over 15 years to offer competitive products.”
