Caterham, owned by Japanese automotive group VT Holdings, has announced that it will integrate immersion-cooled battery packs in its upcoming EV sports coupe, Project V.
The company has partnered with Xing Mobility to incorporate their IMMERSIO Cell-to-Pack (CTP) immersion-cooling system.
The immersion-cooling technology, which submerges the battery cells in a dielectric liquid, is expected to enhance the battery’s longevity and performance, while ensuring safety.
The CTP system delivers energy density of 200Wh/kg, further boosting the EV’s efficiency.
This technology promises “improved heat dissipation, enhanced safety, and superior energy density”, making it a crucial component of Project V’s powertrain.
Project V, which made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2023, will be showcased again at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2024. It embodies the “classic” Caterham philosophy of “lightweight” driving.
