Vauxhall has launched parent General Motors’ own-brand dexos2 engine oil for the UK.
It will be used for servicing all Vauxhall vehicles produced from the 2010 model year onwards in 5W30 grade, with the product part of GM’s global programme to harmonise oil specification.
The concept of a global oil specification started in 2006 with the first prototype created in 2007.
Three years of research and development resulted in the engine oil for both diesel- and petrol-powered automobiles.
Dexos2 belongs to the so-called Mid-SAPS lubricants (lowered sulphated ash, phosphorous and sulphur content) and made of a proprietary blend of base oil stocks and additives compatible with diesel particulate filters (DPF) and gasoline catalytic converters (CAT).
Dexos2 is available through Vauxhall approved outlets in the UK.
