Independent car sales outlets, MOT, service and repair centres in the UK are being invited to join a new national loyalty card scheme called Travelsave – said to be the first of its kind to be launched here.

Specifically designed to enable a wide range of independent outlets to benefit from the type of promotional support usually only available to major national groups, the Travelsave loyalty card scheme will offer customers the choice of cash back or so-called ‘Buy and Fly’ points when using the card.

Aiming to recruit a network of over 1,500 participating automotive outlets in its mainland UK roll-out programme, the Travelsave loyalty scheme is available to only one outlet within its particular business sector in each UK postcode – and with over 20,000 home-owners in each UK post code area, the potential to attract new loyal customers is vast, the promoters claim.

The Travelsave card gives users the option of choosing from an immediate ‘cash back’ of up to 10% or the equivalent in points. A customer buying a £15,000 car could earn two return tickets to New York, while a £600 repair job would fund a trip to Paris, it is claimed.

“The Travelsave scheme will enable independent outlets to incentivise both new purchases and repeat custom without compromising on price,” said Travelsave founder Richard Jacobs.

Joining the national network will also give outlets the opportunity to be part of a broader marketing campaign, with nationwide advertising and publicity being organised to support and promote the scheme to consumers.

Hugh Roberts, founder of the Independent Garage Association and CEO of Autologic, said: “Consumer spending on domestic vehicles is the second biggest expense facing British families, yet until now there has been no equivalent scheme to reward customers for their loyalty. Travelsave enables participating outlets to take advantage of a marketing tool that has worked well in the retail sector for years and yet has, until now, been out of the reach of independents.”
