General Motors’ employees across Europe will join staff at Vauxhall in a day
of protest over the decision to end car production at Luton, writes the UK’s
Mirror newspaper (21/12/00).

According to the publication, the action – agreed at a meeting of union officials
on the company’s European Works Council in Germany – will include industrial
action and has been earmarked for January 25.

GM workers are reported to be angry that neither the Council nor UK unions
were consulted by GM before announcing last week the end of Vectra production
– with 2,000 job losses.
