A new inventory management system, designed to help Fiat Group Automobiles dealers manage their records and accounts more effectively, has just been rolled out across the company’s UK network.
Known as PRIM2 (Parts Retail Inventory Management), the system will be available to Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Abarth dealerships across the country and has been certified to work with the six dealer management system (DMS) providers to the FGA (UK) network.
“Initial results have been excellent,” says John Murray, sales manager, parts & services, Fiat Group Automobiles UK. “I am delighted to see that the breadth of stock in our network is much wider than before and has increased availability of parts immediately.”
When PRIM2 was rolled out across Italy, dealers there experienced more satisfied customers as well as an increase in their inventory turn. With data automatically collected, the amount of time that parts managers spend ordering and receipting parts will drop to around 10 minutes.
“Obsolescence is a major problem within our industry and PRIM2 will help the dealers resolve this issue,” adds John Murray. “Our confidence in PRIM2 is shown by our commitment to ‘cleanse’ a dealer’s stock every nine months. It is my aim to make Fiat Group franchises obsolescence-free by next year.”
