Honda Motor Company’s Indian unit is cutting output due to a shortage of parts from flood-hit Thailand.
“Honda Siel Cars India’s production in November will be severely impacted and December production, too, will be curtailed but the full extent of the impact is still being assessed, as the parts supply situation is fluid,” the company said in a statement.
However, the number of vehicles cut from the production schedule was not revealed.
“The parts shortage will affect all the models manufactured in India but the impact will be much more on the Honda Brio, Jazz and City because of their larger volumes,” Honda Siel added.
Honda’s Thai plant is the ‘mother factory’ for India’s Brio and City models and some of their parts come from Thai suppliers.
Honda Siel’s Greater Noida factory can manufacture up to 100,000 cars.
