Tata Motors, India’s leading automobile manufacturer, said on Friday it had built five million (50 lakh) passenger vehicles.
The automaker reached the 1m mark in 2004, 2m in 2010, 3m in 2015 and 4m in 2020.
“In what serves as a testimony to the company’s strong product portfolio and increasing consumer connect, Tata Motors was able to stride ahead from 4m cars to the 5m within three years, despite Covid-19 and the semiconductor shortage which plagued the global automotive industry,” Tata said in a statement.
