New vehicle sales in Taiwan jumped by close to 25% to 34,307 units in March, from a depressed 27,475 units in the same month of last year, according to local industry sources.
First-quarter sales were 10.1% higher at 99,404 units, from 90,887 units sold in the same quarter of last year.
Hotai Motor, the Toyota and Lexus distributor, led the market with 30,341 sales in the quarter, to claim a market share of 30.5%. This was below the company’s 34% full year target and reflects CBU supply shortages from its factories in Japan.
