New vehicle sales in Taiwan jumped by 23.4% year-on-year to 40,189 units in June, according to data released by local industry sources. 

The country’s vehicle market continues to benefit from strong domestic confidence and improving exports.

Market leader Hotai Motor, which distributes Toyota and Lexus vehicles, reported a 21.2% rise in sales to 13,321 units, while Yulon Nissan Motor reported a 22.1% rise in sales of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles to 4,961 units.

Sales in the first-half of 2014 increased by 15.5% to 210,554 units, raising expectations within the industry that the market will surpass the 400,000-unit mark this year.
