New vehicle sales in Taiwan increased by 20.8% year on year to 34,702 units in November, with strengthening economic activity and new car models helping to drive demand, according to data released by Yulon Nissan Motor.

The company reported a 73.4% year on year rise in sales of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles to 4,904 units, boosted by deliveries of the new Sentra compact passenger car for which it began taking orders in September. Sales in the first 11 months of 2013 were 4.1% higher at 39,653 units.

Toyota distributor Hotai Motor continued to dominate the market with sales rising by 18.4% year on year to 11,733 units, helped by the launch of the new Corolla Altis sedan in October.

Total vehicle sales in the first 11 months were 2.4% higher at 339,451 units and are on target to reach Yulon Nissan’s full year forecast of 375,000, compared with 365,871 units last year.
