David Piper has been appointed vice president and general manager of GM Powertrain Europe, replacing Greg Deveson who has left the company. Rita Forst will succeed Piper as executive director of product engineering in Turin.


Piper, 47, will report to Tom Stephens, group vice president, GM Powertrain and Fritz Henderson, chairman of GM Europe. The appointments are effective August 1.


Daniel Nicholson succeeds Forst as director of product engineering in Germany. Nicholson has been chief engineer of the small-block engine program at GM Powertrain; his replacement will be announced later.
