Autoliv has named George Chang president for the Asia region from 1 April, replacing Gunnar Dahlén who will retire next July.
A Malyasian, Chang is currently president of Autoliv China, an operation that under his command has grown sales from US$10m in 2000 to over $1.1bn this year. He joined Autoliv in 1997 as regional purchasing manager for Autoliv Asia Pacific.
Dahlén retires after 23 years with Autoliv. He started as the company’s first president of the south east Asian region when Autoliv had only two subsidiaries there – in Australia and New Zealand.
Now, with over 13,000 employees and 28 plants, Autoliv Asia is expected this year to account for over 30% of Autoliv’s global sales of around $8bn.
