Hyundai Motor affiliate Kia plans to increase the number of overseas dealerships by 140 by the end of the year, company officials have said.

It would increase the total number of Kia dealers to 4,008 from the current 3,864 across the world, according to the Korea Herald.

The company has set an overseas sales target of 921,000 units for this year, and the sales network expansion is part of the efforts to achieve the goal, officials told the paper.

They said the company would recruit dealers with good track records and improve the quality of facilities and services provided by existing dealers. Kia also said that existing dealers with unstable financial structures and poor sales records would be removed from its network.

Kia would also invest in the development of large dealerships that will combine sales with customer services, including maintenance, the officials told the Korea Herald.
