Hyundai says that it has received an order from the Libyan government for 26,000 Verna (Accent) compact cars.

The order comes on top of a shipment of 6,900 units of the Verna to Libya realier this year.

Hyundai says that growing exports to Libya are a sign of the ongoing opening up of Libya’s economy.

Recently released stats suggest that export growth has petered out in the face of the appreciation of the won against the dollar. In August, South Korean vehicle exports were 24% ahead of August 2001 but just 1% ahead of the July level.
