Hyundai is extending the warranty on some components of the Sonata hybrid sold in Korea to 10 years.
The 10-year/200,000km (120,000 miles) warranty will cover batteries, motors, and hybrid power control units.
The current warranty of six years/120,000km will apply to the rest of the car.
Hyundai is also applying the extended warranty to all current models already in owners’ hands and is considering offering it in the US as well.
Affiliate Kia plans to extend the warranty for its K5 [Optima] hybrid – built on the same platform as the Sonata – to 10 years or 200,000km.
