Parts makers Hyundai Mobis has announced plans to double its annual production capacity in China by 2008, accelerating its growth in line with the ambitious expansion plans of its main customer, Hyundai-Kia.

The company said it will build three new factories in Shanghai, Beijing and Jiangsu Province over the next three years.

It will also double the capacity at its existing factories in Beijing by 2005, which turn out car seats, chassis modules and transmissions.

In a separate development, Hyundai Mobis has set up a joint venture with Beijing Automotive Investment Co. to sell Hyundai parts into the aftermarket.
