A joint venture making Daewoo cars in Uzbekistan since 1996 has a year to reach agreement with the South Korean GM Daewoo plant on the further assembly of cars under the Chevrolet brand, according to reports.

The report said the licensed assembly of inexpensive Nexia and Matiz cars in Uzbekistan may come to a halt if a deal cannot be reached, and current owners of Daewoo brand cars in Russia may face problems with spare parts, which, if shipped directly from Korea, would increase in price by at least 15%.
