Russia’s Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, or UAZ, plans to begin assembly of cars in Azerbaijan in July 2005, UAZ told Prime-Tass.

The assembly facility will be established at the Gyandzha automobile plant in the Azeri city of Gyandzha.

This year UAZ plans to supply 300 assembly kits to Azerbaijan.

The capacity of the assembly facility is expected to eventually reach 1,000 cars per year, the company said.

UAZ currently supplies assembly kits to Cuba, Ukraine and Vietnam.

In 2004 UAZ exported 20,608 cars to 32 countries.
