Sales of new passenger cars and LCVs in Russia decreased by 5% in 2013 and increased by 4% in December 2013, according to data released by the AEB.
The AEB said that 2.78m light vehicles were sold in 2013, 5.5% down on last year. It also forecast that the market for 2014 would total 2.73m, 2% down on last year.
Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee said there was a strong finish in the final month of the year, which had been “rather difficult most of the time”.
“No doubt the run-out of the car loan subsidy in December played a role in bringing more customers to dealer showrooms than in the months before – in addition to the regular year end peak and unusually mild weather,” he said.
