Johnson Matthey plans to start building a new US$10m automotive catalyst plant in Russia in April, the Prime-Tass news agency reported.

The plant will be in the Krasnoyarsk region at the Krastsvetmet facilities, a non-ferrous metals operation owned by the regional government. It processes precious metals such as gold, silver, platinium, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium and osmium.

Construction will take 10-12 months. Initially the plant will produce around a million catalysts annually.
