Sales of foreign-branded cars in Russia rose 49% year on year to 79,235 cars in April, the Association of European Business said on Friday.
The best selling brands in Russia in the period were Chevrolet, including cars produced by US-Russian auto manufacturing joint venture GM-AvtoVAZ, with 8,995 cars sold, or 55% up, Toyota with 8,462, up 30%, and Ford, with 8,203, up 90%, AEB said.
In 2005, car output in Russia fell to 1.068m vehicles from 1.110m vehicles in 2004, while truck output rose to 206,779 units from 202,356 units.
