General Motors officially has built the first Saab saleable Saab 9-4X crossover at its Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

Like the larger 9-7X developed when GM owned Saab, the 9-4X, unveiled at the Los Angeles motor show last November, is based on a GM platform, uses a GM petrol V6 and is similar to models in GM’s own crossover lines.

The Ice Pearl metallic Aero model with a 2.8V6 turbo engine, is headed first for a media test drive event in the US before being shipped to Sweden for display at the Saab car museum.

The all wheel drive model with adaptive chassis control goes on sale in the US in May with sales in Europe and other markets from August.
