New vehicle sales in Malaysia amounted to 40,387 units in February, largely unchanged from the 40,654 units sold a year earlier, according to data released by the Malaysia Automotive Association (MAA). 

Passenger car sales were also flat at 36,457 units and commercial vehicle sales fell slightly to 3,930 units. After reaching a new record high last year, the market looks saturated.

Cumulative sales for the two-month period increased by 4.3% to 91,900 units, from 88,008 units a year earlier, reflecting a stronger performance in January.

Vehicle production was also flat in February, at 40,941 units compared with 40,272 units a year earlier.
