Japan’s industry-wide auto sales, including 660cc minivehicles, rose 20.4% year on year in February to 458,228 vehicles, industry data showed on Monday. Year to date sales to the end of February were up 20.9% to 824,897 with non-mini vehicles up 35.9% to 533,249 units and minivehicles up 0.6% to 291,648.

Non-minivehicle sales last month rose 35.1% to 294,887 units while minivehicles were up 0.6% to 163,341.

Excluding minivehicles, Toyota brand sales in February rose 47.9% to 146,145, Lexus was up 257.3% to 3,373; Nissan Motor volume rose 17.8% to 47,948, Honda was up 36.2% to 41,009, Mazda up 43.7% to 16,252; Mitsubishi up 54.6% to 6,000; Suzuki down 13.7% to 5,341 and Subaru up 17.6% to 7,423. Imports rose 16.9% to 14,433.
