Toyota Motor Corp. is set to raise engine production in Britain to 185,000 units this year from last year’s figure of 130,000, an increase of around 40 percent, reports the Kyodo News Agency, though this has been denied by Toyota.

Kyodo said that the increase in production would be accounted for by the 1000-cc petrol engine used in the Yaris subcompact passenger model.

The car, known as the Vitz in Japan and the Echo in some export markets, is to go into production on Wednesday, in France.
