Anticipating the introduction of tougher regulations all over the world, two of Japan’s major car paint suppliers have released new environment reports setting tough new targets.

Kansai Paint is aiming for a 75% increase in low VOC painting materials in 2000 and an 8% reduction in energy consumption compared with 1992. Nippon Paint plans to have affiliated companies obtain ISO14001 approval and develop a new system to reduce waste disposal from their customers.

Such moves by Japan’s leading manufacturers are expected to promote environment awareness among other automotive paint producers.
