Mazda Motors plans to recall 15,080 vehicles across three model lines – including those supplied on an OEM basis to Nissan and Mitsubishi – due to potentially faulty accelerator pedals.
Bongo, Vanette and Delica models produced between August 2010 and August 2011 will be recalled.
The Vanette was supplied to Nissan Motors while the Delica was made for Mitsubishi Motors under OEM agreements.
The accelerator pedals are reported to crack and/or snap due to a lack of strength when pressure is applied to them, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said.
