Mazda’s anti-collision system fitted to the Mazda 3/Axela has been chosen to receive Euro NCAP’s Advanced award. The award will be presented at next month’s Frankfurt motor show.

The advanced award was introduced last year and is given for new safety technologies that are proactively developed and introduced by carmakers. Last year’s winner was PSA Peugeot-Citroen for the DS5’s ‘localised emergency call’.

Mazda’s rear vehicle monitoring system is designed to detect vehicles, including motorcycles, approaching from behind in adjacent lanes, even in bad weather.
