Honda has set up motorcycle research bases in India and Vietnam to develop measures to meet growing demand in the local markets, a company spokesman said on Monday, according to Dow Jones.
Honda R&D (India) Private Ltd. will research popular colours among consumers in New Delhi, as well as what types of motorcycles are favoured by local consumers, the report said.
Dow Jones noted that the motorcycle market in India totalled five million units in 2002 while Honda’s sales accounted for 1.81 million units, up 37% year on year.
Dow Jones said Honda has also set up a representative office in Hanoi to research marketing in a country with a 1.8 million unit market in 2002, of which Honda motorcycles accounted for 390,000 units.
