Denso said it would conduct a verification test of its wireless traffic control system in eastern China in cooperation with Shanghai’s Tongji University.

The six-day experiment from Saturday in Taicang, Jiangsu Province, is aimed at improving the fuel efficiency of public bus operations with the use of wireless control technology, the supplier told Kyodo News.

By installing radio transmitters on buses and traffic lights, the system will optimise when buses depart a bus stop and their speed of travel to minimise stopping at intersections.

It will also monitor traffic conditions at intersections and adjust traffic lights to prioritise passage of buses, Denso said.
