Toyota Motor Corp is likely to hire some 1,800 workers from a Mitsubishi Motors Japanese factory due to be closed under its restructuring plan, a local report said.

“There is room for acceptance,” a senior Toyota official said of the 1,800 workers at Mitsubishi Motors Corp.’s Okazaki plant in central Japan, according to the Tokyo Shimbun.

“Toyota’s production bases are facing a labour shortage as we are currently hiring some 7,000 to 8,000 part time workers,” the unnamed official said. “If they are experienced workers, we would like to employ them.”
