New vehicle sales in Indonesia fell by 12.1% to 99,410 units in March, from 113,067 units a year earlier, according to data collected by industry association Gaikindo.
First quarter sales fell by just over 14% to 282,345 units, from 328,500 units in the same period of last year, reflecting a slowdown in economic growth. Worst hit has been the commercial vehicle sector with fleet purchases held back by weak commodity prices.
The association still expects sales this year to reach 1.2m units, helped by the introduction on some key new models.
