In a bid to cut costs and revive sales in India, Volkswagen plans to increase localisation from the current 65-70% to 90%.
In the next five to six years, the company plans to spendUS$250m in the country to increase local content, source more parts and introduce new models, Reuters reported.
However, it is not yet known when local manufacturing of more car parts would begin. The company has recently indicated it may add local engine assembly, too.
