Tata Steel
(Tisco) has begun negotiations to supply leading domestic and international vehicle
makers with auto-grade steel.

Tisco’s newly commissioned cold-rolled mill at Jamshedpur, set up with Japan’s
Nippon Steel at an estimated cost of $US344 million, is a new source of steel
for the vehicle industry.

Auto-grade steel is currently imported into India by most vehicle makers due
to a lack of a suitable high quality, locally-made product.
